Classroom Observation and Consultation
Second to being at home, children spend the most time in their school or childcare setting. A child might not be experiencing success at school, and parents might be confused about the reasons their child is struggling. Children can behave differently at school than in the home environment for a variety of reasons: A child may have developmental challenges or learning differences, or the school might not be the right match for the child’s developmental needs and learning style. Schools have different “personalities”, just like people.
Classroom Observation will provide you with invaluable information about your child in these areas:
- Social interactions with peers and teachers
- Language and communication
- Following directions, paying attention, and following the routine
PCES will observe your child in his or her preschool setting and make recommendations for supporting your child’s daily experience. We will provide you and the teacher with information on strategies, accommodations and modifications to incorporate into your child’s day.
We recommend changes that are practical, realistic and creative within the curriculum, teaching model, and physical environment of the classroom.
